Modular construction is a method in which buildings consist of prefabricated building elements (modules) that are produced in a factory and only assembled on the construction site. This principle enables a fast and controlled construction method, since a large part of the work is already carried out under ideal conditions in the factory. It is a versatile concept that ranges from simple structures to complex buildings and is often dismantlable and reusable.
The trend toward modular construction continues. For more than 40 years, the company ZF ZIERER has been supplying façade elements for mobile home construction throughout Europe. The mobile homes are mainly used for tourism.
Due to significantly increased construction costs, modular construction is receiving increasing attention in residential construction and in the addition of storeys and extensions to existing properties.
